I have a 6 year old rottie who jumped through my closed car window a few years ago and badly damaged the muscles & tendons in his shoulder area. He was operated on and had part of his damaged tendon and bicep removed but although he has made the best recovery he can he does still limp. There are times when he over exerts himself and the site becomes inflammed and aggravated so he becomes very sore again. Unfortunately he canot tolerate any pain medication or anti inflammatories and believe me our vets have tried everything but he gets a very upset stomach after a few days on ANY drug at all. I have been down the alternative route and tried many many homeopathic remedies, herbal remedies, animal communicators, bowen therapy, reiki.....the list is endless! I am prepared to try ANYTHING to help him (although he won;t accept acupuncture) and I have now seen an advert for Bioflow collars - does anyone have any experience of these and do you think they may help him? Alternatively can anyone suggest anything else for him please. He is on a veterinary joint supplement as an insurance measure in case of future arthritis and his weight is kept down to help his joints.

I think there are a few people on here who have used both the Bioflow collar and joint supplements, unfortunately I am not one of them!

If you go to the 'search' option on the brown bar up there ^^^ and search keywords such as 'dog, bioflow, collar' or 'joint supplements, dogs' and some old threads will come up.

Hope that helps - and ouch!!!!

Have you tried Canine Myotherapy Treatment (it's a bit like sports massage). I use Gemma Mitchel , she also has a lazer she can use. Check out the site as there is loads of info and also link to find a therapist near you. Hope it helps.

Thank you both, I didn't know how to search so I'll do that and I'll definately look up th Canine Myotherapy as I haven't heard of it so it might be something to try for him.

Have a look at Back on Track, they have leg support wraps which some fancy ceramic innerds.

My Boxer fractured his achillies and a little bit of bone in his hock. I bought a hock support which he can wear at daycare or if his leg is inflammed and a bit sore instead of pain killers.

It works a treat. I was quite sceptical initially but having seen it working would thoroughly recommend.

They are very reasonably priced

xx

I bought a Bioflow collar for my dog last year when she had an intermittent back/leg injury. I have to admit, the problem went away after I put it on her though I don't know if the collar had anything to do with it or if healing had run its natural course. I keep it on her anyway. I don't think it would work any miracles for a serious injury though.

That's interesting - I had a leaflet for a different version of this which was a very similar product but only available in the States and very expensive. I showed it to my vet but as the injury is in his shoulder & quite inaccessable behind the shoulder bone he didn;t feel it would work. Would you agree or do you think it might do some good?

It might be worth a try, or look at the rug type things they sell too which would cover the sholder area.

My dog's injury is from the hock upward, the support only covers part of the thigh muscle but has helped massively with the lameness to the extent that he's no longer medicated.

I will have a look at the rug because I think that will be more effective than the leg wraps simply because of where the injury is. If you have had good results it would be worth me trying it so thank you for the info.

I use and stock the back ontrack products.

I use them mainly on the horses although my dog sleeps on the dog bed.

If you would like any further info or to chat through the product then feel free to either PM me or go to my website (just add .co.uk to my user name) and you will find my mobile number!!
