Please can someone help? My 9 yr old cob gelding was moved from a busy livery yard 6 mts ago. After getting used to being alone in his stable and paddock a mare arrived and he lived next to her and went out with her. Her owner has put her up for sale and when she goes he will be on his own. He has loads of grazing where he is in a padock next to other horses I cant get another horse and the owner of the small yard doesnt want other horses so the situation wont change. He gets upset when she leaves him unless he is out but he will happily leave her in stable to be worked or to go to competition. Please can someone give me advice on dealing with her going.

My horse lives alone and she is more than happy.

However if you horse frets then i guess you need some company for him. I was in a similar situation myself until i realised... my horse is fine by herself. Obviously this wont be the same for most horses. so i,ll tell you what i was told.

what about a goat?

He is a "mummys boy" and loves my company so maybe you are right. A goat sounds fab, I think I'll look into that one, I wonder if there is a rescue centre for un loved goats? I'd like to rescue one.

I was going to suggest a goat, or perhaps a few sheep? Helps the grazing too!
