My mum clipped her pony a few weeks ago and the day after her skin seemed inflamed and through this time this has happened the only thing I can think of is tht the blades were a bit blunt and caused clipper burn. Anyone else came across this happening if do what can I do to soothe it for her? I've been using my Shetlands "aroma itch" as this promotes healing and creates a barrier xx thank u

I have no idea what you can use, have certainly never experienced anything like that, but just wanted to say *ouch* and I hope your mum will 1) sharpen her blades and 2) repeatedly feel the blades to ensure they aren't getting too hot in future....:-/

Thing is her me k was one of the first parts she clipped do the only thing I can think of is the blades were blunt a d causing friction therefore heating up the oil , it was the woley oil we used . I will see if the cream helps in the next few days if not sl defo call the vet x she actually dosent seem to be in much discomfort she's not bring ridden she's having done time off to see if it heals but fc

What is woley oil ?

The sores should clear up with a bit of zinc and castor. I would get your clippers and blades serviced before another go and maybe a little help to ensure the blade tension is correct.

if it is one of the first parts that were clipped then it is unlikely to be a burn as the clippers should not have been hot, I would guess it is more likely to be a reaction to the oil - maybe there was an area that was already aggravated by something else and clipping has made it flare up.

Twiggy tht actually makes most sence she's really carefull when clipping and always gives the clippers a break . It was the Wolsey clipper oil we used just got it from the tack store that day x thank you for your replyx I will keep use updated on her healing progress x

Was it oil in a drip bottle,or an aerosol? I know that C L I P P E R S H A R P have a good new formulated bottle oil, which seems to work well on horses who get irritated. Also if aerosol, make sure you give it a good shake for 5 mins before use as sometimes the oil and propellant settle slightly in storage.
