Off on a farm ride on Wednesday and need some extra brakes... Pony ridden in a wilkie all the time by previous owner as pony has a tendency to bolt in open areas...

So having never bought any kind of gag before is the size the same as a snaffle or is it 1/4 size bigger...??

Is it a true 'Wilkie' or the Eldonian loop snaffle 'copy'? Neither have a true gag action and both have fairly thin mouthpieces and are worn at the normal mouth measurement, as are sliding Cheltenham gag patterns.

Not altogether sure about the question, but if the pony puts it's head down to go, a Cheltenham gag with whatever mouthpiece is supposed to raise the head.

Three rings and 'Wilkies' are essentially lowering devices and the Eldonian relies in the lack of thickness, I think, to help with severity.

Good luck on the ride!
