Many of you have responded generously to _Tankey_ 's post HERE about the financial problems Equine Market Watch is facing - thanks to the recession and an unprecedented demand for their services.

There is a way that HHO readers can raise a LOT of money for EMW - for very little effort and NO cost to themselves.

THIS - http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/emw - is an Affiliate Fundraising site that EMW is a member of. It incorporates Easysearch - a search engine you can set as your default and raise money every time you search the web.

Important facts: it costs you nothing - all you have to do is register and set EMW as 'your' cause.

BUT - every time you shop online you must do so from the Easyfundraising site. So if you're looking for something to buy online and find it, BEFORE you buy, check if that retailer is listed on Easyfundraising. If they are - and hundreds of the big retailers ARE - from Amazon to Yukka - then return to their site via the link in Easyfundraising and a donation will be automatically paid to EMW AT NO COST TO YOU!

The size of the donations varies - it may be a relatively small % - or it may be a set figure (all listed on the site) - but it adds up.

I set this up on the Irish Draught Horse Society site and with only 40 registered users so far, it has already raised £25+ in less than a month - with no BIG sales. Let's say we can get 400 HHO members registered, we could easily be talking £250 a month for EMW!!! But it would only take a very small number of members to buy one of the 'premium' products (and no - not sexy!!

) the total could be MUCH higher.

For example - if you took out a mortgage with Nationwide, that's a £125 donation to EMW. A new mobile phone contract could raise £15-35 depending on which provider you choose. Car insurance is another good earner - check out the best deals from the companies listed (all the biggies) and a donation of between £15 and £30 goes to EMW - NO cost to you.

So - let's set a target of 400 HHO Members registering with Easyfundraising - and using Easysearch as their default search engine - by Christmas - and GUARANTEE EMW a secure future!!

Easysearch: this is a GOOD search engine and it is very easy - from the Easyfundraising site - to set it as your default search engine in place of your Google/Yahoo box. EVERY search you them make, helps EMW. If you make just 10 searches a day, that will raise £20 a year for EMW. If 400 HHO members use Easysearch to make 10 searches a day, we're talking £8,000 a year!!!

That WILL give Equine Market Watch - and the horses and ponies who need them - a good, solid boost!!

As this is such a good source of potential funding, would it be an idea to feature it more prominently on the EMW website?

This is an excellent idea but may I suggest slight refinements? The cashback site quidco allows for donations to be made direct to a charity and on the few companies I have checked that are common to both cashback sites quidco is paying twice as much - that would be because they take a £5 admin fee once a year rather than a %age of each donation. the downside I guess is that there is no clickthrough donation. For big things like car insurance though where Quidco has up to £100 cashback up for grabs there is a huge difference to made for the slight extra hassle of using two sites.

Could I recommend that EMW look into quidco for fundraising, if, course, they have not already done so?

Definitely - will have a word with the person who runs the site for EMW.

Will definitely have a look.

Many thanks to those of you who have already registered. I've also got this appeal on Saddle-up and a couple of other forums so HOPEFULLY - and especially with Christmas shopping going on - this will provide a real boost to EMW funds that will be ongoing.

PLEASE remember to set Easysearch as your default search engine - that could easily raise £20 a year per person with absolutely no more need to think about it or DO anything.

And PLEASE remember to go to your chosen shopping site from the Easy Fundraising button on the Easy Fundraising site.

Will update this regularly to let you know how it's going in terms of registered members - and funds being generated.

Many thanks to those of you who have signed up (and especially if you've started shopping.) Elaine had mislaid her Admin log-in to the site but we're getting that sorted and then I'll be able to give you regular updates on how it's going.

I have also contacted Easyfundraising and asked them to add some equestrian sites if they can get the companies to sign up - like Derby House, Robinsons, Discount Saddlery, Equestrian Clearance, Frogpool Manor and Riaflex! If anyone has an equestrian retailer they use a lot, please suggest them here and I'll send in another request!

Right - a little update.

We now have 101 registered members for EMW on Easyfundraising and a total confirmed 'earn' of £9.86 today (from 3 sales). There may be more as some retailers don't update immediately.

PLEASE note that it is essential you are registered with Easyfundraising, and that you log-in to Easyfundraising and go to the retailer from their link on Easyfundraising for EMW to get the donation!!

PLEASE - those of you who haven't registered yet - or who haven't 'adopted' Easysearch as their default search engine - PLEASE do so now. If we ONLY generated £10 a day - every day - for the next year, that would be £3,650!!!! Imagine what we could do with 400 members!!

Once onto the site if you look bottom right at free funds... I tottered in there and tried the 'Which' electricity comparing thing and if you switch supplier they give a £9.50 donation plus it looks to save me shedloads of £££££.

Up to 129 members today - and another £7.50 to the takings - most of the last two days' activities won't register before Monday/Tuesday - and a few retailers can take up to 30 days. So don't worry too much if YOUR purchases aren't showing yet. As long as you are logged in to Easyfundraising AND go to the retailers via the links in that site, your 'donations' WILL appear.

And now up top 132 members - and another £32.05 raised for EMW today by all the shopaholics! We're well on target to raise at LEAST £100 a week for EMW already - and hopefully - it can only get better!

Remember: register at http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/emw - then log in to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/emw and select the retailer you want and click on their link. After that, all you have to do is spend!

And - with your help - EMW will still be there to do all the grotty jobs no-one wants - like going to the worst markets and making sure horses are not abused there!

We're now up to 151 members and a total of £206.70 raised in less than a fortnight. PLEASE - if you haven't registered yet, go to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/emw and register now.

If you HAVE registered, remember you need to log-in to Easyfundraising and go to your chosen retailers from the links on the Easyfundraising site so that your purchases can be tracked and provide donations to EMW AT NO COST TO YOU (other than your shopping, of course!)
