Help..RE Bucking

Just wondering if any one can shed some light for me..
Me and a horsie friend were talking about a riding aid that helps the rider stay in the saddle with a horse who bucks. She was told about something you clip to the D-Rings on the saddle thet have a ball attached to the end. you hold the strap in your hand wih the ball sticking out the top to stop it slipping through...Anyone know what I am talking about?? Or anyone know of any other rider aids to help with this??

I think you can just buy straps that attach to each D-ring. I know at the riding stables I work for have them for beginners to hold on to and they also use them on horses that can be known to buck. If your horse bucks you aught to get his saddle checked and his back ect.

Yes I know just what you mean but I have no idea what it's called! An elderly riding friend of mine uses one when she rides as she's arthritic in her hands and doesn't have great grip. If her horse spins which he's likely to if he sees cows, she grabs hold of it and the ball stops her from losing her grip. I've seen it in action and it works wonders.

The ball idea is to stop it sliping as a normal strap will slip if you get jolted away from saddle, Back and tack all fine, Its just an evasive thing with him, he gets over it with work but rider needs to say on in order to work him.

Glad to hear it works..Now need to know what its called...Google is not being helpful, apparently "ball on strap for rider" is not an acceptable search..:D
 
just a thought .... but my horse can throw the odd buck in just for fun! I bought an australian stock saddle and i wouldnt ride in anything else now...might come in handy if your rstor doesnt work!
