Help..ridden class..sec b.

My daughter wants to take her pony to a qualifyer for equimax/equifest...the class she thinks will be best is just called..Ridden classes, Ridden welsh A&B.Having never done anything like this before I need some advice.Am I correct in thinking pony is shown in n atural state..no plaits.Are you penalised for a synthetic saddle.Can it be ridden in a pelham...cream jods tweed and jodpur boots, and is it an individual show with walk , trot, canter...gallop needed?..help.

The pony must be a purebred rehistered welsh pony. Shown "au natural" - so for a B that means mane pulled and tail shaped tweed, shirt, tie, velvet hat, cream jods, short boots, jody clips, brown gloves, show cane, pelham with all its added extras correctly fitted, so long as the saddle doesnt cover up most of the pony and be excessively large you should get away with the one you have but prederably try and borrow quite a straight cut leather one.

The class will all walk, trot and canter round together, change rein, canter, walk, line up. Individual shows should consist of a trot, a canter on both legs and a gallop.

Google Images brings up a wealth of info on turnout. Look for such ponies as Milcroft Isca Rock, Duntarvie Anthony, Wortley Wizard and Skellorn Royal Consort for the correct turnout.

Yes turned out as a Mountain and Moorland.

For a Welsh B a neatly trimmed (but still looking natural ish) mane.

Quality of tack should not matter just ensure it is neat and tidy. A discreet numnah (or none) which matches tack colour like brown/black and a nice girth that is also subtle.

Use a flat cavesson bridle preferably not raised or with any flash hoops as it looks scruffy. A snaffle is just as adequate as a pelham. I personally like to see eggbutt/loose ring or wilkie snaffle or a pelham/double as they look more traditional.

Sorry I was assuming that your pony was a B! If it's an A then same rider turnout just slightly different pony turnout. Again Google images for the like of Waxwing Paintbox, Mynnditaryn The Maverick, Pennwynn Ryan.

Thanks guys, yes she is a sec b...she rides in a pelham usually are roundings ok or do you need double reins , my daughter is a junior (13 yrs)..but its an open class so there could be adults in also, so was,nt sure about the roundings.....best get mane trimming
