what can i use to treat it im not sure whether my horse has it, i clipped her at the weekend and i can see tiny little patches on her skin with a Grey colour how can i treat it? and is it true that when the hair grow backs after having ringworm it grows back white??? and not the same colour as the coat before?

Smother the areas with povidone iodine - that should kill off most of the fungi. Keep dabbing it on for at least 10 days after it appears to have gone.

The hair will grow in a slightly different shade due to the changing of the coat at this time of year, however once the winter coat is shed and the summer coat comes in, you won't notice any difference.

Ringworm is very contagious so make sure you keep said horsey away from others and wear gloves when treating him - you can catch it too! Don't wear the same clothes to do other horses in, otherwise you risk passing it on to them.

Ringworm isn't really a big deal - but it is a great big pain in the butt as it is such a nuisance to get rid of.

You can tell it is ringworm if you shine a UV light at it and it flouresces, ie glows!

You can also tell it is ringworm as it spreads rapidly.

Could it just be a reaction to the clipping (oil etc)? However til your sure stick to treating it as contagious. Hair colour should return to normal after coat change unless there are complications.

My horse literally had it everywhere, was a nightmare!! took about 8 months for it all to be cleared, she had a severe case of it though. You can use Imaverol, maliseb and a power that goes in their feed although you would have to vet them off your vet.

Daisychain,I have treated myself with it for ringworm and my stallion as well.It clears it up really quickly and is very cheap.

no it's fine lol my horse's ring worm has just grown over againa (it's all on his face) lol and it grows back normal color,. the whole yard had it and noones got any unusual white. x i put imaverol on it twice a day apparently that absolutely kills it. and then some other cream which sorry i cant rememebr what it was but that helped the hair grow back (apparently) x
