I got my pony on loan last year and got a saddle with her. It was 15" and far too narrow so i bought a synthetic one as i wasnt expecting to keep her long. I put her in the wide gullet and it was fine until she must have lost weight and it started to rub her at the back and she got very sore. After leaving her for a while and changing gullet back to a medium she was fine but it was too narow and stood off her but have useed this gullet until yesterday when i changed it to the medium wide. It stills tood off her a bit but not as badly and after riding her it had dropped to 4 fingers again but both me and another 2 experienced ladies agreed it didint look right. She has NO withers and a very flat back but very little shoulders. She is built sloping downwards on her forehand as well i this adds to the picture. I was planning to buy her a bates saddle this christmas but now tehelaies have advised me to go to a saddlers and have them fit one. My budget is only around £700-£750 and i am really worried that getting one fitted is going to be costly and it is my dad who is paying for it and he isnt planning on going bankrupt for this saddle.
Anyone have any advice or similar expeirences?? Im getting rather stressed out and need some advice!!
