Hi everyone
Recently purchased my first coloured cob and im in LOOOOVE <3
Hes 14.0hh piebald 5 years old :)

Im a total showing numpty novice, but id like to give it ago, since in my opinion, he could do quite well.

Thats where i need help!! Any showing peeps on here, please feel free to offer advice, and CC on him as i could do with a few impartial views, since im so uneducated in the showing world!!!

I think personally he needs a good pamper, and a longer mane, tail and feathers, but any other thoughts greatfully received :D

THANKS

I'm no expert either but he's GORGEOUS, just my type. Short-coupled, IMHO, but a lovely peachy-bum and very nicely put together. What I'd call "a leg at each corner" :D The way he's standing in the side-ways on pic makes him look over at the knee but it's probably not the case in general if he's stood square.

He really is gorgeous :p

Have a look at TGCA (traditional gypsy cob) website, loads of info on there. TheresaF on here is very involved with them and she is the most helpful person you will ever come across, particularly about showing and care of feather.

Good luck with him :)

Nice cob, but then again I am a bit biased lol. Agree with the comments about his hair though as he is needing some on his mane, tail and feathers too. That may be down to his age though as my gypsy vanner's feathers, mane and tail really started to come into their own around 2 years ago when he was around 8.
Without sounding mean I think he could do with some toning up in places though as he looks a little cresty on his neck and a bit peachy on his bum.
I know that most traditional cobs are heavy built but I know I got marked down by a judge last year as my boy was carrying some condition.
For his age as he is only 5 he could do with losing a few pounds as he may chunk out more in the next few years as I know my boy did as most cobs don't mature physically until they are around 8 years old.
He does have a pretty face though :)
I was reading the other day about plaiting manes and it helping them to grow longer as it helps to protect the strands of hair. I might give it a go on my boy.
Good luck with him though x

Ditto Cazee, possibly a little too well rounded right now for my liking in the 2nd pic (but then I'm not a cob show judge, and everybody knows they went through a phase of liking them obese) but otherwise what a lovely chap!
