Can I wear white jobs, long black boots, white shirt and tie with grey check hacking jacket? I'm going to an inhand show on Sunday and don't really have much to wear

What are you doing? I never used to have a jacket but be smart and only white jods for sj or dressage. cream/biege would be better AND MORE FLATTERING

I would go to matalan or somewhere and get some cream or navy coloured trousers or cords (go for a light colour if horse has dark legs and dark for light legs), and wear jodh boots with them.

The shirt, tie and jacket sound fine. You'll also need a hat, though a riding hat will do. Oh, and a cane.

Thanks guys - I can see a shopping trip in order on Saturday

I don't know how big the show is going to be - I'm only going so the ponio can get some showing experience coz I've never showed in hand before

Virtual - it's a coloured tie (I'm *ahem* borrowing my Dad's....)

Avoid white jods. If your jacket is grey, I would find some cheap navy trousers. Change the long black boots for short ones - long boots are hell to show inhand in. Nick your dad's tie - red would look nice and brighten up the grey and navy. Ideally wear dark trousers if your horse has white legs, and light trousers for a horse with dark legs.

Or, wear a light pink shirt and use a navy tie with your jacket.

Hair - if it is long, tie back and put in a bun. Ideally wear some sort of hat, either your hard hat, again if you can avoid black it would be best, or wear a trilby type.

E-bay has some cracking bargains on if you look - all my show gear has come from their - this year alone I have saved £400 on what I would have spent on show outfits, and it is in perfect condition.

Good luck and above all, do have fun.
