i have just brought a pair of rubber long boots and rode a dressage test in them and my synthetic saddle. they were awful, squeaked really loudly against the saddle, it was very offputting for me and horse !
they did squeak a bit when riding at home but it was really loud in an indoor school.
has anyone else had this problem and have you found a cure !
think i am going to ride dressage in short boots and gaiters until i get the boots sorted but i will need to ride in long boots to do a showing class. cannot really afford to buy leather long boots.
any help or ideas will be v appreciated !
thanks Kirsti

You might be able to afford some leather ones - I've just sold some for £12.50 on ebay - bargain for someone!

Sorry, can't recommend anything for the squeaks

Maybe some baby oil?!?! Never had that problem but like Chumsmum says you may be able to get some cheap leather ones off e-bay. Also Christmas is comming - ideal pressy suggestion!!

I sometimes have this problem with my leather boots. Try rubbing some hard glycerine saddle soap on the inside of the boots where they touch the saddle. Dont use any water just rub the bar of saddle soap straight on so there is a layer of glycerine on the boot. I dont know if it will work with rubber boots on a synthetic saddle but its worth a try!

thanks for the help, will try the saddle soap thing.
might be worth a look on ebay as well, maybe i could sell these ones as well, they have only been worn once.

Sadly my very expensive leather boots also squeak on my synthetic saddle, some times worse than others (haven't yet figured out the reason for the days that they don't squeak). My friend has just bought leather gaiters and she says they don't squeak at all, so that may be a solution? (They're also cheaper than long leather boots generally, though not always).
