Help ?? Trying to Upload / transfer my horsey DVD onto my laptop ???

Recorded some videos of my horsie from old video onto new dvd, well rather my oh did as I can barely work the dvd recorder !!!

So it all went fine, played dvd back , is very good .

Now....... I would like to get this dvd up onto my laptop to then email to friends , put on my website , you tube stuff like that but every time I put dvd disk in my laptop nothing at all happens !!!

I have acer laptop if that makes a difference , oh tried it on his dell laptop, and the dvd plays but I dont know how to get it uploaded or whatever onto the laptop so I can then do stuff with it ?????????

What about copying and pasting the file on the dvd and saving it to the computer....
