So, I need a tweed jacket for showing, however I am such a strange shape a standard wool or traditional tweed jacket won't fit me properly and I end up looking awful! I can't afford to go through the cost of having one made to fit….

I have however found that the new breed of technical /soft shell jackets fit me perfectly. Now if only they made a technical / soft shell jacket in a tweed colour / effect?!

So my question is, would I get away with this jacket in a showing class (you won't be able to see pink cuff)? I would just be doing some local stuff and then some PUK qualifiers…..

Anyone got any other suggestions?! ;)

I was contemplating buying one like this, I have a navy Pikeur one and its brilliant, fits like a glove, if only they came in a tweed like colour!! I need a bit of stretch to go round my boobs, otherwise they are huge everywhere else and i look like a shapeless blob!! :(

Local level, you'd be ok with it. Anything bigger (PUK etc)...afraid not, especially if your class requires a tweed!

What classes are you aiming for?

Thanks Lilyhead, I am hoping to do riding horse classes this year, but really can't face a badly fitting jacket…. makes me feel like a big frump, especially when i look at the photos!!!

Could do with a shorter tailored one with a bit of stretch, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know :)

Why don't you just take the tweed you have to a local seamstress and get it adjusted?

I tried this, but I am not sure why, but it still looked awful, maybe material was too thick in it it was quite a heavy wool tweed, it kind of turned me into a square! I actually ended up binning it as i hated it that much and couldn't sell it after i altered it!

Maybe a thinner one would work better? hmmmmm

I have to say, tweed hacking jackets can be the most unflattering garment you can put on, they are too long and the shoulders are so wide.

A Pikeur Epsom is a lovely neat tweed jacket, lightweight with a bit of stretch, see if you can find one.

Thank you, have you personally got one, just thinking they look quite long, but can't find pictures without 6ft skinny models!!! :)

Depends if you are short and narrow shouldered.

Generally too baggy in the front for me, broad shouldered and small boobs!

Just have to have them altered to fit.
