Help - !! Ulcers

Does anyone have experience in Ulcers or know of the most effective treament/product for them ?
I have searched the net and there seems to be allot of products that help prevent them but little in the way of eradicating them.

where is the ulcer??? My fiends horse had one in its eye she used milk?!?! I have used t bags before and that seemed to work really well (bit of an old wives tale)!!

Do you mean stomach ulcers?!
My boy has/had suspected ulcers or at least shows/showed some of the signs...cribbing, grumbly tummy, grouchy, doesn't like being groomed around the belly area or being girthed..

I found Pink Powder to be great. That and a high fibre diet.

Coligone was one thing that was recommended to me too but I was already trying Pink Powder which worked for my boy..

My mare had suspected ulcers (when she went for her KS surgery) so they gave her gastroguard....and then i started her on pink powder post surgery and she has been fab!

If it is stomach ulcers, you need a vets diagnosis as the only treatment is gastrogard, which is prescription only, and some horses will also need treatment with antibiotics. Make sure you have hefty insurance - so far I have a vets bill of nearly £4K and most of that is medication.

I bought a horse out of Gorsebridge sales, an irish thorougbred. He was emaciated and had hunted all season. I got him home and he started to show the classic signs of gastric ulcers. Rather than having him scoped, I put him on a course of Gastroguard and the benefits were amazing. Coupled with a high fibre & low sugar diet he began to pick up and was virtually unrecognisable after a month from his previous physical appearance. Gastroguard is the best and most effective for treating suspected ulcers although very expensive at £40 a pop! The treatment recommended is a 28 day course and yes it can be an instant drain on the bank account. I sourced my own supplier on the internet and was able to purchase Gastroguard for £21.00 per unit. All you need is to send a prescription from your vet and the drug should be with you within 24 hours from the supplier. I was able to halve the cost of the treatment through doing it this way and I can highly recommend its effectiveness.
