Sorry to post yet again but I need some opinions urgently please

My instructor has just texted me to say she is on her way to A&E having been kicked in the leg

I was due to go SJ at a new venue tonight with her so that Bob could see new venue/new fences etc as he is very very green with his SJ and we are going eventing on Sunday. There is no-one else at the yard who could go with me, and I hate SJing so I will dither and bottle it on my own

So..... should I go regardless, and do small classes to keep my confidence? Or should I not go tonight, and wait to receive some reassurance and training from the BE trainer on Sunday as I am doing the BE80(T) class?

Dont know what would be best

Why dont you just go there, pop a few practice fences and let him have a nose around to get accustomed to the atmosphere etc. Or even try a clear round with him. No pressure, no times etc, all in his and your own good time. Can you take a more experienced friend with you for support?

Good luck.

Was planning to go to Tack Farm for the 2'6 and 2'9 classes - never been there before myself which makes it even more

for me. I am so pathetic, I am dithering already which makes me feel like not going would be the best option

ETA - sorry Henmeister, they said to get there for 7.30pm for the 2'6" class

You should go - you might surprise yourself and even if you go and bottle it it is still good experience for you both

I would say go - you may surprise yourself. Plus it may even do you some good if your instructor is not there as they may not always be able to attend events.

Good Luck

I think you should go

Keep calm and take everything as it comes - no pressure ..
I'd offer to leave now and keep you calm myself but I'd err be no good

Go and keep it small. If you're not confident do the 2ft 6 twice & if it goes well, go back to plan A. It will be good for you to go without your instructor but I would recommend trying to get someone to go with you, even if they're non-horsey.

Oh, and have fun!

Thanks so much for your replies everyone

Ummm - not absolutely sure where Tack Farm is Henmeister, it is down the A417 I think

I was going to look on a map tonight when I get home

Sounds like I had better go, I suppose even if he is horrible in the warm up then I can just load up and go home

I wish I liked SJ-ing better

Yes its down the A417 near Ullingswick (sp) if I'm thinking of the right place

What does your instructor think? I would always go with their advice since they know you best and how you perform under pressure.

If you want to go i think seeing how the warm up goes is a good idea. I suffer from nerves (im gettng alot better but used to be absolutely terrible) and i used to take the pressure off by telling myself i could stop at any time - indeed on a few occasions i warmed up, then went in the ring and jumped a few fences well, then put my hand up and came out... just for the experience.

Good luck whatever you decide!

N xx
