My friend is at her wits end, she has been looking for a horse for her husband for months and months and everytime she thinks she has found one its sold or not as advertised!! So can anyone help us find a horse for a man who is 6ft3 so something that his long legs will not look silly on. Their critera is:
16.3 - 17.2hh
To do eventing, initially local stuff and possibly affiliate at some stage, hunter trials etc on
Aged 5 to 10 years
Top budget is £6000 - cant go higher at all
Good to handle on the ground and around small children

Biggest no for them is napping!
If anyone knows anything please say, post here or PM me! Thank you

This is my instructors horse, just gone up for sale (so not sold! :) )
I know she is a little older than they wanted but she ticks all other boxes EASILY and does not act her age (not in a bad way, just mean there is plenty of life left in her! :) )

She was on a riding school yard and so has been handled by people of all sizes etc
she is not a novice ride, but only coz she can be a bit keen into fences etc, but never nasty or anything like that :)

dont know if she helps but thought id show you what I had!

Also for size, the bloke in the picture is my instructor, and he is just a bit taller than me and I am 5ft 10/11 so she would be a fine height and size for a 6ft 3 bloke :)

Thank you lucy sorry shes too old and forgot to say geldings only because the yard he manages has that rule! And 16hh is too small kezimac but thank you anyway :)

Could try a wanted ad on the IDHS (Irish Draft Horse Society) website? It does sound as it a ID might be a good match ... they are fabulous jumpers and as comfortable as hell. Would suggest putting height down to 16hh though - I have a 16hh ID and tall boys look just fine on her.

My yo has home bred gelding for sale .He went to loan home on sunday but can ask for you.Hes 17 2 is fab around kids adores them.Affiliated sj does everything you ask of him.We are norfolk based is that too far.

Hi Daisy!

It would be worth them looking at slightly smaller horses, if they have a deep girth and are nice and broad it would take his leg up fine. I know Mark isn't quite as tall as your friend's husband but he has very long legs for his height and the mare that we have just found (fingers crossed for the vetting) is no more than 16.1hh, not broad at all and he looks fine on her. Have a look at my profile for a picture.

The height can be so deceptive, Mark looks taller on 17hh Haribo than he does on 15.3hh Jacobite because of the build.

I don't know of much that is big enough to be honest, most of the ones we've been hearing about recently are smaller or mares.

Good luck though.
