Finally getting around to getting mini me's pony insured, Now stuck on value. We got pony at a decent price as was yard owners grand daughters pony and know they wanted pony to go to home they knew. Pony is 12hh , 11 yrs old and a total first ridden, has record jumping up to 90's tracks, brave xc, comes back to rider at a slight check of the reins from a flat out gallop in open fields, will go first or last in group rides, total schoolmaster hunting, bombproof in traffic...
wins in the show ring , lives out all year.

help! Don't know what to value her at.

I'm guessing you haven't got a vetting certificate so I would go for the 4995 then you won't need one, those sort of ponies are gold dust and people would pay more!!!
 
I'd say £1000 if insuring lou then.

Personally, I'd never insure for LOU again after trying to claim for it in the past.
My current horse will be my last horse, if I was looking to buy in the future, I'd put away a bit each month rather than pinning my hopes on the horse dying of a BEVA approved condition and the insurers paying out.
I don't bother insuring for vets fees any longer as they seem quite hair triggered about excluding this that and the other. What it would cost me is put away for when she does need the vet.
 
The insurance co. will want to insure the pony for the price u paid for it and will take an awful lot of convincing to insure it for more.
 
If you want in to insure the pony for a value higher than you paid then you will have to justify that to the insurer. Proof of competition results and or a letter for a qualified instructor is what is usually required.
