To cut a long story short my dog was recently spayed but had complications and should not have been sent home when she was. This resulted in emergencey surgery costing £2,000 that could have been avoided (IMHO).

I want to complain but I don't know who to??

The practice who did they spay are a small chain (Vetsavers) and I cannot find any details for a head office / managing director / customer service contact ??
I can't see the point in approching the particular branch in question as I'm sure the complaint will end up in the bin!

So, do I complain to the RCVS ?? Or someone else ??

Would appriciate any advice please.

The royal college, what exactly hapened, or do u need to keep it to yourself?
im sorry to hear this happened is your dog ok?
Have u had to foot that bill?

What happened? If I were you, I would send a letter to the practice explaining your complaint, and state that you would like to discuss how best to resolve the dispute, and that you are prepared to talk to the RCVS if you feel you are not being taken seriously.

Without knowing the details of what happened it is very hard to say what the right course of action is. Speaking as a soon to be vet, we all make mistakes, and I sincerely hope that if I ever cock up the owner involved will come to me first and allow myself and my practice to try to come to an arrangement. However if the vet involved has done something seriously wrong and is refusing to take responsibility then the RCVS may be the only route. If you google RCVS then there is a 'complaints procedure' bit if it comes to that - but please do try to talk to the practice first. it may be that the practice will be able to come to some arrangement regarding your bill, or they may agree that it is an RCVS matter.

Thank you folks. I don't think it would be appropriate to say what happened or by whom on here but I will certainly take your advice and speak to the area manager for the vet chain first as I have now managed to find the head office address.

Cheers
