Help! Vet stumped

My mare had suddenly developed crusty oozing sores around and up inside both nostrils and also on the centre line of her stomach towards the area of her teats. They are very nasty and sore. My vet has taken blood and we should get the results tomorrow. He thinks maybe she has eaten something toxic and her liver isn’t working well enough to get rid of the toxins, hence the reaction. Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar?

Sounds more like contact allergic reaction, any sores in her mouth?

Any buttercups in the field? My friends horse had similar on his nose area and we narrowed it down to buttercups

Yes, splashgirl45, i agree, sounds like she's inhaled something and brushed against it /laid on it, on her sensitive areas of her belly.
