I have owned my mare since she was 5 (my 14th birthday present  ), and she is now just 15.
When I bought her I was told she was an ISH out of a mare by King of Diamonds and by a stallion called Triggered. This is the breeding which is on the documentation I got with her (white paper with her identifying markings on it I dont know what it is called), but I dont think she is registered anywhere? The lady I bought her off said I would need to get a blood test done to confirm the breeding? She had bought her at a sale in Ireland as a 4 year old.
I never really paid much attention to whether or not she was registered as it wasnt important to me. When passport legislation came in I simply did what everyone else at the riding school I kept her at did and applied for a generic passport (I havent got it on me at work and cant remember who issued it but it was whoever was cheapest I believe!) As I say was only 14 when I got her, my parents arent horsey and the yard manager was a newly emigrated south African with no knowledge of British horses (she thought my mare was a carthorse when she arrived as she was only used to tbs!) so I never though about getting an ISH passport.
Now Im wondering how I would go about confirming her breeding and tracing her bloodline? Not only am I curious but I am toying with the possibility of having a foal out of her in the next couple of years (obviously providing the vet gives the ok given her age etc etc) as she has the most wonderful temperament, is as honest as they come, never once been sick or lame (excluding field injuries as a youngster hooning around in the field) and has a terrific jump on her. If I did breed I would want to put her to a pure ID and register / part register the foal if possible. If I did breed I would be intending to have the one and keep it as a future all rounder for myself.
So Im looking for advice on how to go about doing this? How would I confirm or otherwise the breeding history I was told when I bought her? And then how would I register, and who with?
Thanks for reading bit of an essay cookies all around!
