Help! What do I wear.....

Going to a Showing Champs at Towerlands in a fortnight with my friends' kid. I've got to do the grooming bit in the ring. Was intending to just go in my usual garb - jeans! But she says I've got to be smart and wear a hat. So what on earth do I wear and what sort of hat?

i always thought that if u groomed then u should be in a jacket, and either jods and boots or smart trousers/shoes like how people look when they do in hand classes?

Prittstick is right if it was a county show. At a normal qualifier you'll probably be better in fairly smart trousers (cords, brown/black jeans etc), a coat (blouson or smarter) and a hat. The hat is the most important thing - some shows insist on them. A riding hat or suede bushman's type thing is probably what your friend is expecting you to wear, though some people get away with all sorts including baseball caps or wooley hats!

If you have a 'old' riding hat, cut the harness off and it will look like a beager. Of course not suitable for riding afterwards, but smart for the ring, especially if you wear a tweed hacking jacket.
