So as you all know, Im TRYING to sell my trailer!!
Ive advertised it privatly, but have had no interest

Which is surprising really, coz its only 3 years old and I think the price is ok £2650 ono ????
Anywho, as I need a bigger trailer asap I am thinking of part exchanging mine at an Ifor Williams Dealership for a 510.
I spoke to a dealer this morning and they have a 510 in and ready to go for £2995 (its 7 years old) and they will give me £2000 max for mine!
I dont know what to do, coz I need a bigger trailer asap, but that will mean putting £995 on my credit card (and not telling OH!!)
What should I do????

I should prob add that I just got a loan to pay off my cc!!
Do you think £2995 for a 2001 510 is abit much??

How cheeky, only giving you £2,000 for your trailer

I don't think I would take that deal tbh. Is there no way you can keep using your old one until it sells?

Or, how about renting out your trailer to friends (or advertise) in the meantime and then you could perhaps hire a bigger one when you need to go out. Then, when your trailer sells, you can buy the new one without having to put any money on your card??

A bit long winded, but I think you should steer clear of debt if you can (especially if you already have a loan for your cc!!).

They have offered you a terrible deal. Firstly a 7 year old 510 isn't worth £3000, they are making a fortune on that, they would have bought it for considerably less & on top of that they will make a fortune on yours. I know a dealer has to make money but let's face it even Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed someone!

You will be losing a lot if you accept that deal plus having to pay high interest rates on a credit card for £1000. Additionally your OH would rightly be angry you doing this without telling him. Surely you can't be that desperate to do all this?

With the deal you are being offered you could afford to reduce the price on your trailer significantly more & still be better off. Then when it sells you will definately find a better deal on a 510 cheaper privately.

A couple of 505s have recently sold on eBay for over that price - although one of them was only 12 months old. If you do a good ad and put on a BIN and a reasonable starting price you should find that it sells.

Don't do it! Persevere with selling it privately. It sounds like a reasonable price although I know nothing about the value of 2nd hand trailers. Have you tried ebay?

I would have thought you should be able to sell yours and get a new one without any further cash outlay - which is the priority as the last thing you need is more on your cc if you've just got a loan to pay it off!

Dont do it - you dont need to be in any great hurry to take your new ponio out so just wait until you get a decent offer on yours.

Take some time to do some bonding with her at home and that will help you in the long run. Shows are on all the time - be patient

I think dealer is just looking for maximum resale profit for himself! My friend bought a 510 a couple of years ago, it was only 1 yr old at the time and they traded in their 3 yr old 505 and only had to pay £900 difference. I would try another dealer.

I wouldn't take that deal. We sold our 5yo 505 for £2600 two years ago. Sold within a week. Best response seemed to be from tackshops. We placed adverts (with Photo) in every tack shop within 20 mile radius.

Have a look on horsemart... that will give you a really good idea of decent asking price. I sold my 505, 6 years old in used condition last year... for £2200. IT sold very easiily to first viewer from horsemart. Its not expensive to advertise on there either...

o bad luck... is it similar price then to others like for like ? If you have had no replies, maybe you are asking too much....?

I sold my 505 about 18 months ago on Ebay. It was about 4 years old, but in really goond condition. I put up lots of pics and got £2600 for it. I would have thought it's worth a go.

Thats really expensive! Brought and sold our 4year old 510 a few months ago for 2750.
Also if its 7 years old does it have a wooden floor or an aluminum?
