Help, what to do?

Let me know if I can do anything to help or if you want some company when you go to see him. What a c@@p situation for them to land you in!

Can you contact the YO to find out what the situation is? I'd check as there may be a pi@@ed off YO not knowing what to do with the horse. At least contact the YO to give your contact details in case there is a problem (unless she already has them).

Do you have the number of the yard he is at?

I'd phone them to ensure that arrangements have been put in place to look after him whilst they are away.

Good idea, thanks, I'll do that, but I will be speaking to the yard owner/manager when I go over there this week too.

Apparently they have someone staying in their house while they are away that is going to check on him too, but I don't know how knowledgeable they are.

No you are not being unreasonable. If the horse was theirs and they had booked the holiday they would have to make arrangements for whilst they were away, and as he is on full loan it is the same. They have full responsibility for his care and so it is up to them to pay for him. I am sure they could sort out putting him on Full Loan at their yard. Maybe you could offer to pay a bit towards the extra money and ask them to pay you back when they get back? Failing that, you could tell them if they don't sort it out then you will have to terminate the loan agreement. If they love him that much, they will find a way to be able to pay for him!
