Really strange one and got to be careful what I say here so as not to upset. I sold a horse to a friend of mine about 3-4 years ago. I adore this horse he got me back riding after really losing my confidence after some horrible falls. Sadly I went into showing and as he is a showjumper I never got the time to do anything with him so I sold him to my friend.

I got a call from her about a year ago now and she was really struggling financially and asked me if I would have him back at mine to look after him as she could not afford him and did not want to sell him. As I love this horse to bits I said yes and he is still here now. Problem is I still have no time to do anything with him and every stable I have costs me £30 per week plus all feed, haylage, shoeing and worming etc. She comes and sees him and has a sit on every now and then and covered a vet bill that came in for him but I'm really needing to use the stable to get a livery in.. I suggested she put him out on loan but she does not trust anyone else with him and she wants almost what she paid for him back if she sold him...help!!!

I think it is time you had a quite word with your friend as tell her your concerns. I would say that although you was glad to be able to help 12 months ago that you would like to know what her long term plans are because you cant afford to keep him permanently.

Maybe she would consider him going on loan on your yard that was you are there to keep an eye on him for her.

Good Luck.

Thank you. I did advertise him once but everyone wanted to move him to own yard. Then had a girl come and share him for work on the yard.. 3 hours to muck out one stable to name but one of a catalogue of issues. lol but would be happy for that for someone who resided on this planet :)

The joys of Loaning. I had one lady agree to loaning and then turned up tacked up my happy hacker and took her out on a hack at 5.50pm (2 weeks ago) my mare was a little spooky (couldn’t see) so she brought her back then text me to say she wouldn’t be carrying on the loan but would pay the 1 months notice.

Some people. :D

I would remind her of how much it has cost you to keep him for a year and ask her to sell him to you cheaply or gift him to you....then sell on
