Well on Tuesday I shall be off to see the horse I would like as some of you may know. I have a list of questions already ready but was just wondering what would you think is the most important ones to ask? If all is well on the first day of seeing her I am planning on seeing her again this week and bringing along my instructor with me and then a third time for vetting.

So what are the most crucial questions?

I honestly think this varies so much depending on you, and what you want from her. My crucials were vices, good to handle, health history, any known problems?

Oh and I could see she is a good doer LOL :D good luck for Tues xx

Apparently she's very 'mareish' and can be moody, so ill be interested to see how far she is true of this or how little. I'd ideally like a horse I can show jump locally and apparently she jumps well though her owner hasnt done it for a while. So be interesting to see how it goes.

LOL I have a mareish mare :) I don't really know what mareish means, I interpret it as has a personality. She's in season now and is being a pain in the ass :D as the old saying goes;

Tell a gelding;
Ask a mare;
Compromise with a stallion.....

I love my mare I've had for a whole 10 days :)

Awww bet she was worth it then?! :D

I'm just really nervous because another person is viewing her monday and if it goes well, then no mare for me.

Most important for me were (just had 2nd viewing of a mare I'm buying)

* Any vices
* Hack alone
* Previous History - owners, comp history
* Why is he/she being sold
* Any previous injuries
* Vaccs, teeth, worming etc up to date
* Ok to turn out/bring in
* Ok with vet, farrier, clipping, loading

Aswell as trying the horse ridden in an arena and hacking, I turn them out and bring in, pick the feet up, load, turn some clippers on (can you tell I've had a horse that was petrified of clippers :D ), check stable manners. All done over a couple of visits where I take different people with me, spending a couple of hours each time, chatting interacting with the owner - I'm a right pain in the derrier of a buyer :o

Important things for me would be:
Temperament
Health
Vices
Conformation

I think that everything else can be worked on, with the help of a good trainer if necessary.

I also think it is important to get a feel for the owner - are they being honest about everything?

I've seen many pictures and videos, she needs a bit of work but I'll discuss how much work she's had. Definatly think if she has any past injuries and other things like that is important to me. she's nice though.
