I had Osteo out yesterday & she has recommended I put my Mare on some sort of Magnesium Supplement as she had ALOT of tension in her Muscles.

What supplement would people recommend?

A magnesium supplement will only be of any use if your horse is deficient in magnesium.

I would be wary of just adding magnesium to the feed without actually understanding the reason for the muscle tightness first.

Has she told you if she wants you to feed magnesium oxide?
If the case and you want to buy online, I'd go for the Pro-Earth shop on e-bay (they stock both the 99% pure and 85% pure) or Equimins. 85% pure is cheaper and safe to feed but you have to feed a bit more to make the same amount as 99%, it is also a bit gritty but found my mare prefered it to the 99%. You should also be able to get magox at your feed store.

She had a tilted Sacrum, which is the main cause of the tension I would think but Osteo said some horses just tend to hold onto tension rather than release it which is why she suggested a magnesium supplement

Much of the pasture in the UK is short of magnesium, and as a natural mineral you can't really overdose - any surplus gets excreted. Always worth trying if in doubt IMO, apart from the classic presenting symptoms (hard muscles, stretched white line, extreme spookiness) magnesium affects the uptake of calcium. And not that expensive, it is a useful diagnostic tool - if it has an effect, you know that was the problem. Magnesium Oxide off ebay will cost you just a few squid for enough for a couple of weeks, which is enough to see a difference if there was a deficiency.
If it doesn't help, it certainly won't harm and you can progress to other tests then.

Have you considered a balanced electrolyte. Classic symptoms of electrolyte deficiency.
Look for one that has the key electrolytes in, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium and Chloride.

A lot of the supplements are actually very low in magnesium and are notoriously difficult to decipher on the label. As mentioned on here, Progressive Earth are good, I use their 85%. If you look at any of the info on feeding mag ox, the amounts are quite large and way above anything you'd get in the "named" supplements.
