I'm driving myself round the twist here, I have the choice of three shows to attend - I only want to go to one but cant choose which one!

Background - four year old 11hh pony showing in hand for the first time since a yearling, calm and quiet pony no anticipated problems. He has sweet itch which is nicely under control at the moment and he is looking quite well if a little unconditioned

me - fat and need to get a bit fitter if I am to run around a ring without keeling over but happy to fitten up as necessary

I want to get a bit of value for money as the horsebox hire is £110!

Show 1

Early August
Close to home
Three possible classes all after 9:30am including one for newcomers (would probably do just two classes)
Strong competiton
Busy
Parking a bit hemmed in
My immediate first choice but its very close now!

Show 2

A week later than the one above
1 hour away
only one possible class but early at 8:30am
Quieter
Larger space for parking, wandering around, warming up etc

Show 3

Early September
Same venue as show 1 so close to home
1 suitable class, 1 other possible
More time to get pony and me in to condition
Busy
Competative - HOYS ponies there last year!
Pony will be fluffier by then and worried sweet itch may flare up before then
My least favourite of the options

Personally I would go for the first show. Far more classes and the first show should be done for enjoyment. Do as many classes as you can and the main thing smile and enjoy it.

As you have said that there is more competition then there will hopefully be less pressure and few expectations.

I would not go for show 2 as the first one as an early start and the long travel might make things a bit rushed which might mean that you and the pony don't enjoy the experience.
