My 6 month old Cairn Polly is marking in the house? ( I presume thats what she's doing ) She is completely dry from 10pm until 6am and has been for at least 6/7 weeks.

She has access to 5 acres of field, and she does wee outside, but she wee's inside all the time, like every hour! Its driving me mad! I keep her in the kitchen, but to get outside she has to go through the hallway which is carpeted. Seriously thinking of ripping it up and leaving bare concrete down!

Is she coming into season? I've never had a bitch before only dogs, I have a 10 year old JRT too

Should I get her spayed? and ideas of how to get rid of the smell/try and stop her doing it!

She knows she's being naughty as when I have caught her she runs straight outside.

I love her to bits though, she is so good in every other way :)

thanks

I would put her outside every couple of hours. Get her into a routine. Might be worth getting a sample of pee and checking she's not got an infection. They can have a season from six months and tend to pee more when due and during. I would restrict her access to certain (carpeted rooms) as I have found when they pee in a certain spot, the smell - regardless of of your cleaning efforts - still permeates. Certainly get her spayed if you have no intention of breeding. If her pee annoys you, then spots of blood covering the kitchen floor will most definitely irritate you!:)

I have noted that she will only wee on absorbant surfaces, like grass/carpet/paper. So everytime she gets let out onto the yard ( paved )she wont go ( I suppose its a bit like my pony who wont wee on the road? )

So I have been keeping her in the kitchen and taking her onto the garden and she wee's straight away, so far so good and no accidents since yesterday pm :) and only been twice today :)

Will keep an eye on her, but as she's dry at least 9 hours overnight I just presume she's being naughty!

Whats the best age to get her spayed?
