When I bought my mare she was in a badly fitted saddle. Shes very sensitive and has been having Physio every couple of weeks. Still suffering with sore whithers and behind the saddle, to the point she reacts to mounting and lunged in a roller. Does anyone have experience with acupuncture or another form of treatment?

How many physio sessions has she had? Your physio can't treat the horse without agreement from your vet and I'd they've seen the horse a number of times yet you still have issues, they should have referred you to your vet for further investigation.

Has your vet seen the horse?

How long have you had her? How long has the physio been coming every two weeks?

If the pain/tightness is not easing then I would suggest there might be something else going on.

Vet has seen horse and told to continue with Physio, suspects the ill fitting saddle has caused her to compensate. Also is sore through neck :(

Never seen a horse with acupuncture, but thinking it may help to heal the soreness?

Vet tried that with mine. Didn't work, turned out she had kissing spine which needed proper treatment and rehab. With those symptoms, Id be wanting to rule out more serious issues before you do more treatment. Better to know what you're dealing with and then treat accordingly otherwise you could just be wasting your money.

I think you might have cottoned on to it.. She ripped off her shoes and made herself sore a few weeks ago. She'd had bruised feet, as is super sensitive about them. IT wouldn't supriae me if it's related, she's never shown any back pain before hand. I think the nodding could have triggered her sore whithers? Anyways she off work untill sound and if no improvement I'll investigate with vets.

In a situation like this you need more the a physio or Chiro, you need someone who understands the whole horse. You need a vet specialist . I use a Chiro vet, this is with the knowledge of my normal vets. She does both Chiro and acupuncture, to answer your question acupuncture carried out on a horse by a knowledgeable person is amazing and does wonders for the horse. With a specialist vet , if the situation needs more conventional treatment then they can refer and advise the normal vet, which is priceless.

If she's required physio every couple of weeks 'and' has presented lame then it's time for a full work up now.
