Have been reading the new rules and I am a bit confused by this one (ok I know it doesnt take much and its been a long day):

"If a horse’s registration has lapsed for more than one month, any points or qualifications gained up to and including that period will become invalid."

Does this mean if I dont renew Gen's registration for a month he will lose all his points and therefore go back to being eligible for a lower level competition?

Seems a bit odd or am I missing something glaringly obvious?

I think it means points gained from when the registration ran out to when its renewed. Its not very well worded.

I agree - totally confusing - as presumably unless you have competed when not registered (which I bet BD would manage to be very efficient about noticing

) then you can't have any points during your lapsed membership anyway.

As usual, they have tweaked the rules and no-one - including the BD office - will understand them for months....

Hiya!!! I have not heard from you in ages!! Mind you I have not been on here that much!! Every now and again!!

I believe you lose points from when the registration ran out to when it is renewed same as what nat1003 said I believe, not all your points gained.

Hope you are well and so is Gen. Have you been out lately?

Hiya and thanks guys. Bit weird cos surely if your registration has lapsed you cant gain points? Oh well, I dont think its likely to affect us, I was just curious and couldnt work it out.

Hey Freestyler - have been watching your progress when I can - doing really well.

Back at work full-time now to keep Gen going and what with kids, new foal and trying to decorate I am flat out and exhausted and not to mention very poor.

Gen has had a huge amount of time off from competing as it all just got too much for him. He has always had confidence issues and it all kind of exploded in our faces-resulting in lots of tension and super rearing!

Back to basics for a while to get him really straight and softer through his jaw. He did his first comp a few weeks ago - a novice - behaved himself impeccibly and got a huge 76.5%

So will prob start competing in earnest after Xmas - but at Novice for a while so as not to stress him out.

God I waffle - oh and YES go for the red tophat!!!!!!

Wow I feel exhausted reading your post!! You have been buisy.. and I am glad I am out of Novice now with that score I am sure the rest has done Gen good!! Keep up the great work and hope to hear more results and hope to see you out again soon!! Cheers!

The horse will still have the points he has already obtained on his record for ever.
Re the qualification, if for example you have qualified or part qualified for regionals by end of January and your registration finishes on 31st Januaty, then if you allow the registration to lapse for the whole of February and renew in March the qualification or part qualification you gained will be lost and you have to start again!

Correct.

The wording on tbe website is a slightly edited version of the actual rule which states -

"If a horse’s registration has lapsed for more than one month then any points gained during that period, or qualifications gained up to and including that period will become invalid."
