My boy is an absolute star on the left canter. He goes straight off the leg and will canter forever if I let him. Always manages 8 or 9 in tests, which is superb. However, his right canter is different. He strikes off the wrong leg and then will break. 3 or possibly 4 is the best we get in a test, which is disappointing.
I have owned him 8 years and he has always found it difficult on the right rein. He was diagnosed with accute sidebone in both front legs 3 years ago and he then had a year off and was brought back into work slowly.
He does try so hard and is an absolute treasure, but I was wondering if anybody else has the same problem or could advise on how I can improve his canter? I have tried the usual up down transitions and they seem to work for awhile but then he goes back to his old ways.
Thanks
