Hey.

Im only looking at the moment as not 100% that I wanna give it a go as its quite late (although like last year, im a one broodmare owner so it doesnt matter so much if I have a late ish baby)

She is a full TB and she has very extravagent movement but could do with more power and in oomph. Shes 16.1 and I wouldnt really want smaller. I would like something a bit chunkier than her, so no full TBs. Id like something with a nicely set on neck and a good strong back end. She has ok feet but could be better. She is a bit spooky so nothing to hot to ride. Id like a stallion with alot of power over a fence.

Id like to breed a horse to event to a decent level, but sensible enough to have around day to day.

So far I like- Don VHP Z, Sempers spirit and I have always liked Amour G.

I like Jumbo but dont have that many pennies. I used wish upon a star last year but think Id like to be different. Lots of Breif encounter babies look nice but I think id rather use WUAS again.

I spent the day with Future Illusion who was just super but think he was a bit light and too pretty for her!! He was just a poppet to hang around with and I realised I could of just ridden into the sunset with him as his owner let me walk him, by myself round a busy BE event all tacked up!!

I have seen a fair few Graf babies who have been gorgeous but think hes a bit sharp and again too many pennies.

A friend said I should see Legrande but wonder if hes a bit light too, same with Chilli morning.

I love uptons deli circus but hes too little, even though he mainly throws bigger, I just cant risk it, esp with my 14.3hh spotty 2 year old :(

I dont mind using a SJ stallion, or a heavier type as she is weedy and seems to refine a heavier horse (she went to a knab to make Dottie) I have probably got around £800 tops to spend....

Also this late in the day the quality of the semen really comes into it too...

So...anymore ideas?!

Here are some pics of her-

Why? Her conformation is far from perfect. It may be best to tie to something other than a fence as well.....with a quick release knot......

Well hi, there, thats a nice reply!

Thanks for your concern but she is tied to baling twine with a quick release knot. Heres some proof so that you can sleep this evening :p

In that case I apologise unreservedly for that particular comment....I stand by what I said re: conformation though. Pasterns that upright really should not be bred from, no matter how lovely a horse may be.

I think I'm allowed to answer as you've mentioned my boy. (If not, apologies and I'm sure admin will delete!)

As you know, Amour G is now proving himself show jumping and is soon to start at Novice BD. He is graded with a 'proper' sporthorse society and member of the WBFSH.
He has the most lovely length of rein, good feet and I'm proud to say that every person that has come to view him in the flesh, has fallen in love with him and booked a mare. :)
Just had an email from a happy mare owner saying Twemlows, who did the AI, said his semen was fantastic. (All mares so far this year are in foal to one insemination).

PM for more details inc foal pics.

She hasnt got upright pasterns. Neither has her first baby. She was checked over by a very good vet before we even considered the idea of breeding from her to make sure she was good and sound enough, there are also a fair few professional breeders that are keen to borrow her. The vet who checked over her first baby offered me £5500 for the baby on day 1 (all be it just before the credit crunch!) but I only breed for me so she didnt go anywhere!

A friend said I should see Legrande but wonder if hes a bit light,

Hi as you have mentioned my stallion, I will reply :D

Although Legrande is a modern, athletic type of stallion, you would be surprised at how much bone he actually has, this is one of the main reasons why I purchased him after a 4 year search.

You are more than welcome to come and view him, as photos can be very deceiving and in fact not many of them really do him justice.

There are videos of him (and his foals) available for viewing on our website, the address of which can be found in my members profile :D

i certainly wouldn't say Legrande would be too light- i think he is quite chunky actually.

was really impressed when i saw him at the stallion parade at Hartpury- he was immaculately presented, beautifully mannered and had bags of spring and power over a fence.

really lovely type and if i was looking to breed from my tb he would be on my shortlist.

I too would say Legrande is not short of bone, I am using him this year to improve bone on my mare.
I have met Legrande 3 times now and every time he has impressed me. He has the most wonderful temperament and AMAZING movement and hind leg.
His foals all have good bone and movement.

I would recommend going to see him if you can.

Do you have any standing up confo pics of him? I just looked on the website but couldnt see any :)

Good point! I will see him agine next week so I will take a few then and if they are ok post one on the site. The ones I have are over a year old and he has filled out a bit since then.

You can give Hannah (His rider) a call at any time if you want to find out more about him and discuss his confo. her number is 07792 192236

:)

Have a look at Monte Carlo at Freckleton Stud - beautifully limbed, close coupled and deep, I think he would suit your mare very well, he has a great front - really well set neck into shoulder and a powerful quarter, I have used him twice and been thrilled with the results. The semen was fantastic - one insemination per mare. I think you will find he compliments your mare well. I look every year for Monte Carlo x TB foals to buy as stores but struggle to find them! He is popular with the warmblood breeders though. PS how are the names coming along for your new baby....my WUAS is Once Upon A Time and the 2 Brief Encounters are Kiss Me Quick and De-Brief!

I can't work out what it is you're trying to make. The stallions you have ticked or disregarded are as diverse as you can get. On the continued (now very boring) subject of Grafenstolz's temperament, why don't you go to the stud and see him for yourself? You can then decide rather than listening to gossip.

I recommended him on another thread, but I think Royaldik may be what you're looking for, I think he'll make eventers, dressage and jumpers. his dam's full brother has made horses at the top of each discipline.

I have met Graf and I am in no way disputing that his temprement on the ground is amazing, I think hes just lovely and had fab cuddles with him and played games with his tounge!! No one that meets him in real life can say anything bad about his temprement at all. Also the graf babies I have seen have been GORGEOUS. My worry is that my mare is sharp to ride and he looks a bit sparky to ride too. Im not a pro rider and I dont want a pros horse which is what I think would happen if I tried, it would be gorgeous im sure tho.

Royaldik looks lovely...
