To cut a long story short, I have a mare in foal and I'm unsure of the father! It is out of a possible two stallions (both very different!) and I'm wondering if once its born I can some do some kind of dna test ( if the owners are willing) to both check the parentage and verify for registration purposes. If it possible anyone got any idea of prices please just roughly and what is involved blood test etch? Any info apprieciated as im in the dark!! Thanks

Dna is a simple thing, a few mane hairs with the roots attached.
May be simpler though, depending on the colour of stallions, and mare. Ie if only one stallion is colored, mare isnt, you have a fair chance stallion is the coloured one. If one has dilute gene and foal is dilute.....

Thank you guys! I'll try to answer all your questions in one! The mare is a skewbald traditional cob. One possible stallion is owned by the lady I bought her from. I think he is a coloured sport horse type but I'm not sure. I was told (after I worked out she is pregnant) she was put to him last year but was scanned by vet and not in foal. When I contacted the lady she told me this and said that had then turned her away and that her friends stallion could have got out and with her. This one is apparently a 13.2hh ish coloured cob like my mare but smaller! Hope this answers your questions : -)
