I am struggling to get my pups to eat decent dry food. They were weaned on some low end tinned meat. They are cockapoos.

I have tried Milleswolfheart obedience and riverside as suggested by a nutritionalist and they really didn’t like it.

Currently trying Canagan . They do love the natures menu pouches that I mix in but tend to leave the kibble.

I worry they aren’t eating enough but they have bags of energy and look fab.

Have you tried soaking the kibble? Or adding a little cooked fish to it?

Yes I have tried soaking in goats milk/water. Also bought natures fish . They eat natures mince fine but leave the kibble. Weird as it’s both of them.
Have looked into doing raw but not sure will be viable as they come to the yard with me.

I use Wolfworthy which is raw in a kibble, and I add 1 natures menu pouch between all 3, 2 terriers and a small lurcher. The kibble costs me £50 every 4 weeks and they don’t NEED the pouches but it makes me feel better. Are you sure you are not feeding them too much and changing too often? I would settle on a good food and only add a tiny amount of the pouch and if they don’t eat it take it up and give them the same on their next feed. I assume you are feeding 3 or 4 times a day , if they are hungry for a day it wont kill them , obviously not ideal but sounds like they are being too picky..

Thankyou yes I think your right they are too picky. They have 4 small feeds but never did finish them and I’m weighing all kibble.

I fed milleswolfheart from day 1 with small amount of mince. Only this week after 8 weeks I have introduced small amount of Canagan and small amount of pouches . I don’t want to upset their tummies by changing foods. Think I’m
Going to persevere.

Remember they won’t need anywhere near the amount listed as a daily requirement. Think how big their tummies are and feed to that. They are training you and you are setting up for a lifetime of fussy eaters. They are dogs, if they are hungry they will eat.
Put their bowls down, leave them access for 10 minutes, if they haven’t eaten pick them up again. Don’t coo, hand feed or encourage them. Leave them in peace to eat and if they don’t, tough. Be strong!

I feed with the info on the food in mind but I adjust according to how my dogs look. None of mine are allowed to be fussy, I have done plenty of research on what food to feed and that’s what they are having, I would only change if the food upset their digestion not if they don’t fancy it. All of mine eat well and seem happy with their lot.

Thanks everyone

All the pups I have ever had have never been fussy with food. Typical I get 2 together ? I will persevere, they seem to like this food better than Millie’s.
