Hi to everyone im new here! Hope you all had a lovely New Year.

Im setting up my first electric fence (been on a livery yard till now) and am sitting scratching my head! Its probably a really obvious answer but hopefully someone can help.

I have a dual energiser but plan on having it running from mains certainly throught the winter at least. The energiser itself will be plugged in and housed in my tack room. There is then a 45 metre distance to the closest point of the fence. I know I have to use a lead out cable, but dont know how that gets connected to the energiser or the fence leads or the earth stake! Can someone please tell me what on earth goes where!!! :-S

Many thanks in advance!

Trust me, it is dead easy!! You need a lead out cable for both the mains and the earth, to run to the fence line from the energiser, you will also need at least 3 1m stakes, the better the earthing the better the voltage at the fence. You buy metal fence connectors to connect the mains cable to the fence itself and the earth stakes should have a clamp or bolt for you to connect the earth cable to. You will need to strip the mains cable at both ends to connect and only need to take about 1" off, for the earth stakes you strip at the connection point but keep the lead in one piece between the stakes. Would highly recommend buying a voltage tester, connect it all up, power on and test the voltage.
