Hello,
I need a reccomendation for a decent fly rug for my older tb, he is turned out 24/7 with a paddock with limited shade but he has a shelter.

I took his fly rug off today as he gets quite hot in it but i need to leave it on as otherwise he comes up in horrid itchy lumps!

He is all sweaty and itchy now as he has got himself worked up by scratching as its so hot.

Please reccomend a decent fly rug that can be left on all day!

Reason for it being *urgent* is because i want to order tonight!

Thanks!

I have just bought pony a weather beeta, see my last thread lol.

It is quite heavy duty but upto just he is not sweating under it. Normally have masta but I far more pleased with this one

I have Amigo Mios and they are a budget fly rug but I have been very impressed with them. Of the three, only one has a hole and they are on their second summer. I've not had any rubs from them or sweating, however the horses do have shade. I only put them on the horses when the flies are bad rather than every day.

I have the Mark Todd one, without a neck - my horse was out in his today without sweating, although he has been known to sweat in it when it is even hotter than today.

The Amigo bug rug is also nice, a friend has that one. Another friend has the Rambo one, which is a lot thicker so I think would be more likely to make a horse sweat.

My tb's rambo one doesn't make him sweat up at all, strangely! It's really tough, only rug that's ever stayed intact!! Really soft for the horse though! He's really sensitive skinned and it's never rubbed, not even in a shower! Looking at getting a fly rug for my ID and it's the only one that would IMO stand up to the job (he's a rug trasher) plus he sweats up really bad but the fit would be too narrow for him, as he's a chunk!!

Thanks guys!

Couldnt decide what one so he has a Mark Todd, Amigo Mio and a masta coming
Prob not the greatest plan when i dont have a job at present!!

I have a riff raff one and she wore it all last summer - she is a black horse and no shelter so I put it on to keep her cool - she doesnt sweat in it at all and it has relaly long tail flaps and belly flap so protects here from flies.

I am so impressed with it i just bought another as my other one is falling apart a bit after all the rolling she does and i like to have a spare to use for keeping plaits in etc.

I have a weather beeta too but i didnt think it kept her as cool but it is a nice rug also. PM me if you like as I am selling it.

The amigo bug rugs are also brilliant and seem to last a very long time.
