Hi my mare is due back from vets sometime this week. She had op for colic.:o( She is well and on right road to recovery.I have been told she needs a High-Fibre diet.I been looking at foods and its hard to say what one to get as she will be on 8 weeks box rest and then 8 weeks in small field, so she will be out of work for 16 weeks. She is fat in my eyes does really well on air..I am asking what is best really.

I have put pic up to show u her.. Thankx

How about Allen & Page fast Fibre. It's a balanced feed if you feed the reccomended amount. You soak it so I suspect it will slip down nicely too.
Maybe give the A&P helpline a ring - they're very helpful.

I'd be inclined to ask your vets what they have been feeding her and continue with that, at least for a while.

Thank you both for help. I will be having word with vets to see whats best . He did say put her on a High- Fibre diet. With so many out there just wanted to know what was best.

Yes, ask the vet. Alfa-beet springs to mind but if she is a fatty it might be too high in calories for her. Feed companies all have nutritionalists you can phone too, they'll be able to help.

To be honest vets are pretty clueless about nutrition.

I would contact a feed company care-line, they will give you much better advice than a vet and people on here. :)
