Hi Dog people, last night at around 11pm I found an aged Jack Russell bitch in my garage, She was very cold, thirsty & nervous but soon settled down indoors with a late supper & drink, I have taken her to local vets this morning hoping to find an owners details from microchip but no chip found, local vets do not know dog, I've phoned police (not interested) & dog pound/warden to leave my details if owner contacts them, has anyone any ideas as how I can trace her owner ? I really don't want to send her to dog pound as she's quite an old lady & don't think it would be fair on her, thanks in advance....Annie

Hi Clava & thank you........Just been trying to download photo of phone but OH has just called to say he's found owner so she'll be going home shortly, I do find it strange that they hadn't called local vet etc though.......still glad we've found them X

Glad you've found her owner - poor little dog. We found two dogs one xmas eve, turned out they'd been out since 3am that morning (it had snowed all day). We rang police and vet and the police said they'd not had any reports of any missing dogs. When we did actually reunite the dogs the owners said they had reported them missing to the police as their first call!!

We managed to reunite them via the Dogs Trust funnily enough, it was 4pm ish and they were about to close and we rang them as a last resort (they are quite local) and thankfully the owners had thought the same and they managed to give us the owners contact details.

Quick update on "found" dog, the owner is an elderly lady who has "carers" come in to help her get up, go to bed etc., her daughter had spoken to her Mum this morning & poor lady had only just realised that dog was missing as the "carer" had left dog out last night when putting lady to bed.............She was frantic bless her, apparently this is not the first time the carers have done this................I'd be getting new carers if I was her but at least the lady is happy now, the dog is sixteen so really should of known better than to go off on an adventure at her age ! Alls well that ends well and thanks for all your comments, Annie xx
