Hi I have just taken on a Tb he was fine the first couple of rides, but today all he done was head shake, anyone know what bit I could try,I am going to try a flash as-well,he is forward going but no strong.

Start with the simple things ruling out sensitivity, allergies, tack fitting etc. that's what I did with my gelding, it then unfortunately went onto vets, pills, operations, I hope for your sake it's not a head shaker as its a horrible horrible disease. I found professor knotterbolt at Liverpool university the best person to speak to :( good luck and hope its something simple!!

Nose nets are good but are usually associated with allergies and dust and pollen in the air, hence why mainly used in warmer months. I would do as someone else had pointed out try and find the cause by a process of elimination.
For instance does the horse only shake when ridden?
Does he do it hacking and schooling?
Have you tried lunging both with and without tack and see if there is a difference?
What tack he is in at the moment?
Has he had any saddle/back checks recently?
When were his teeth last done?
What age is he and is there a chance he may have any problem wolf teeth?
What bit and bridle is he in?
Personally I would not contemplate trying to keep his mouth shut in a flash strap until all avenues have been explored as there could be a teeth or pain issue as to why the horse is head shaking? So putting him in a flash before this has been ruled out could be really considered a little bit cruel imo.
There is a condition that can cause head shaking which can be addressed, if in fact the horse does have this as most times the shaking is related to other issues.
Good luck and let is know how you get on OP
