help with headshaking

my daughters pony headshakes and so far it hasnt been too bad, but over the last few weeks has got a lot worst,i have bought him a nose net which doesnt seem to help,i put vaseline on his nose and this helps a little,he is worst when it is windy and there are alot of midges around he is very sensitive when you touch his nose,i have heard of nostrilvet and using asmtha spacers but dont know too much about these also the herbal remedies you can put in his feed,do these work??
Any suggestions and ideas welcome
