Help with jacket and turnout

Hi. I've recently started riding a friends dales cross.
Dressage (just prelim) - am I best in tweed or black/navy? Assume I don't need to plait (I'd struggle with the amount of hair!)?

Showing- I've not done any showing before - what's the standard attire and tack requirements?! What saddle pad?!

I've only ever done dressage so am clueless! Thank you
 
Technically tweed is correct for lower levels and navy for ladies at higher, but nobody minds. wear what you have got and are most comfortable in.
Tweed jacket is beige breeches, long boots and a coloured stock
Coloured jacket is white breeches, white stock and again long boots.
For lower levels you could wear a tie instead of a stock.
Plain muted colour saddle pad and gloves - most folk will wear white but it's not required any more.
No need to plait.
Snaffle bridle - any nose band, but you cant use clips if it's a Micklem type bridle.
Bit, most snaffles would be ok
All the above is for BD rules, which most unaffiliated use too, but unaffiliated can just choose their own rules so best to check with them

Thank you. Ill stick with tweed for dressage then as my legs don't agree with white breeches!
 
Showing... yes unfortunately classes will be limited due to being a part bread, but there will be lots of riding club level shows with native type classes to do.

Definitely tweed jacket, beige breech, shirt and tie, dark gloves. And for the horse a neat brown numnah that fits well with the saddle.
