I need your help guys please.

We took Willow to Lincoln Show on Tuesday evening and condition/weight wise she looked ok. She travelled like a dream as usual, but just after we arrived the storm hit. Aboslutely threw it down, lots of thunder and lightening. Anyway she was nicely tucked up in her stable with lots of haylage and her tea. Got to her yesterday morning about 5am and fed her. Whilst she was eating I took her rugs off etc and she looked like a hat rack. She didnt look stressed in the slightest.

Anyway, apart from now getting the condition and weight back on her what can I do to help stop the drastic loss over night at the shows? Its only 3 weeks till her next show and I dont want the same thing to happen again

Would a probiotic paste help do you think? Or try Coligone perhaps? I'm sure you can get both in syringe form and this just might help settle her tum and help towards preventing a repeat performance.

Even if she didn't appear stressed in any way the journey/whole show experience would still have taken it's toll.

xx

Although there were no outward signs of stress, it seems that this may be the main cause..... Is she on a calmer of any type? Does she always do this when stopping overnight? Does she do this when you travel straight to a venue and compete and then come home?

I couldnt believe it either when I saw her. yes it is my yearling and at the moment shes on Simple System feeds. Shes getting the lucibix, grass nuts and purabeet plus as much haylage as she can eat.

Well I checked her over and she didnt seem dehydrated but its something to think about. She had a thin cooler rug on with a head/neck thing on as she insists on laying in her poo.

SD I have Blue Chip Karma for my big girl so I may give Willow some of this before I go but I could try her with a syringe of Coligone. Ill see if H's mum is around to answer it before I buy some to see if it may help.

Ovidius,
no shes not on any type of calmer as she is so laid back its unbelievable. She has the nicest temperament going and isnt phazed by anything.
Shes been to 3 shows now. the first didnt affect her however she didnt stay over night. The 2nd she went to it rained heavily all night and this is the 3rd weve taken her to. I dont know if its just the weather that coudlve upset her?

may just be a case of stress then ... you could like a previous poster said and give her a calmer see if that makes a difference .
what height is she now ?

shes younger than missy isnt she ? missy is 15mths and shes reaching 16hh now, what height is willow ?
Are you wearing a tribly type hat for your classes or a beagler type hat ?
I cant decide which to wear, although prefer a beagler as I look like a twat lol in the other

shes gone bum high but shes around 15h. Shes not properly 1 till tomorrow! hasnt time flown since I was worrying about her birth.

I wear my Charles Owen show jumper hat with flesh harness for competing.

Give it a go, it can't do her any harm. I'm thinking of buying a couple of Coligone syringes for when I take the little fella out first time, just to make it a happy experience for him.
