i have had my pajero over 8 months now. it is a 2.8td auto. i had to get it to tow a trailer. when i first got it i was putting around £70 a week diesel in. about 4 weeks ago it started messing about it is fine to start in morning goes for about a mile then dies on me it starts straight away again and does not stop anymore!!!. BUT i have just had my diesel account fot the month and it is £575.00 OH MY GOD. i have been putting in about £50 every other day (i get about 180miles) . it was in the garage twice last week and they can not find any reason why it stops or drinks my diesel. any one have any ideas. if not its got to go

I know hwy your car stops and it is probably the same reason it is drinking so much derv. Its stops because the fuel pump seals need replacing, this job on average costs around £800 but I had mine done up in Hull and it cost me £175, do pm me if you would like to know more.

thanks i thought there was something wrong. i will book it into another garage. i have been using the same man for years but he just seems un interested lately.

I thoroughly recommend www.pocuk.co.uk (think that is the address) as they are sooooo helpful on there when it's anything to do with pajeros and techie questions!

Sorry I can't be more help.

PS I have a 2.8td swb paj too

Afraid I second the fuel pump seals above....mine did exactly the same thing, needed the whole diesel pump reconditioning

The bl**dy car has cost me thousands over the last three years, after the diesel pump went, then a cylinder head cracked!! Plus the ridiculous amount of diesel and the expensive insurance. Grrr.
But in its defence, when it is working, it is a fab tow car, got me out of some horrendously muddy fields and done miles and miles of towing. We have just traded up to a lorry, and although I won't miss the repair bills and weeks at a time in the garage, I will miss the car!
I think I probably just got unlucky though to be honest, have known other friends who have had no trouble with them!
