Today i noticed that the hair on my horses legs (below the knee) is very slim, in some cases he has a few bald patches.. Is this normal? I felt to see if he had grazed himself and pulled the hair off but there are no signs and then I found that the hair on his legs just comes off. Im not sure if this is suppose to be happening or not so hopefully somebody knows!

Its as if your pulling hair out of a malting dog.. its exactly the same with my horses legs.

Can anybody help/advise me?

I found that often happened to my TB horses in the spring - coming out in tufts, right down the front of their cannon bones, sometimes until they looked like they were going to go bald. I never understood it, but it never seemed to cause any difficulties.

No I used to scrape it off with my fingernails. It seemed to be slightly greasy at the base and I thought it was better to let the air get at it in case it was fungal after a damp winter. I often found a patch on the forehead the same, as well. It always grew back well, and it was only ever the fine coated horses that did it. I haven't had one of those for a while!

mine has this too, really noticable this year, was wondering if its the sudden hot weather that has made it worse. She has one totally bald leg and a fairly bald 'armpit' and various patches. Looks awfull but give it a couple of weeks and it wont be at all noticable.
