Hi everybody,

I am currently doing a project at university to rejuvenate horse riding clothes while not removing the tradition. I'm looking at everyday riding clothes as well as body protectors (I know body protectors come with some very complicated specifications!). As I am a horse rider myself I felt as though my passion for horse riding could help influence my project.

I have 5 questions that I would really appreciate if you could answer, it is a multiple choice questionnaire so it won't take long at all. The questions answered will help me to choose the correct market to adhere to. Thank you very much if you do answer & just for taking the time to read this!

5a. Do you wear a body protector?

A. Yes For X Country or a new horse.

C, a, e (only because I have 6!), a, a/b I wear my bp for xc only due to rules, I wear my air jacket otherwise. I don't wear it as I have pins and plates on the front of my collarbone, any light pressure on it hurts so regardless of make of bp I find it too uncomfortable. If I come off and land on my shoulder it will sever my artery regardless of bp or not, it's a risk I chose to take.

B. No

5b. If no, Why not?

I only wear a body protector when competing, going XC schooling or jumping a new horse. I find them restrictive when schooling on the flat and don't like wearing one when show jumping either.

5. as with others, both A and B. Only wear a body protector when doing cross country. Yes they can protect you, but so could full body padding and each individual has to decide on their own line for level of risk. Why I personally don't wear one all the time? I have been near death more than once and not worried about it. Riders can still become paralysed with a body protector (e.g. Chris Reeves) and I am happy to personally take the risk rather than be stuffed in a body protector every day.
