This winter i will have 3 to ride (for the first time) along side mucking out and all that comes with it.
Browsing on the net i came across a site that had horsey adverts and just decided to place one and see if i got a reply, 3 so far.....

1- was a lady who brought on youngsters for a top international producer and could "sort out" my horses no problem, she was amazing etc etc, only had no transport, was 20 miles away and kept re arranging visiting to meet my horses so i just didn't get back to her.

2- Sounded nice but had never ridden (i did put one was perfect gentleman and safe to ride but this concerned me as you just never know with any horse)

3- has just got in touch but from her grammar I'm unsure maybe i'm being a snob or looking for something i wont find but her sentences sound a bit odd and tbh someone who says they "did rode horses for 5 years" just doesn't fill me with confidence- However i know my punctuations not the greatest and would think it unfair if people judged me on it!!!

I just want someone normal, kind and trustworthy to ride out with me in the afternoons- choice of horses- how can it be so hard!?

Unfortunately it is hard - I would love to pay someone to come and help exercise my horses but whereas when I was younger there was an abundance of keen teenagers, this is no longer the case.

You can only go on your instinct, so if you are suspicious it may be best to wait for someone else to call, and just be super careful if you do invite someone over for a trial.

I dont have a trainer- cant afford lessons :'-(!
I keep my horses at a small private yard so no yard owner either. Like i say its my first year of 3 so might not be as bad as i'm expecting maybe?
I have been riding and leading a bit recently but due to the horses this is really a bit of a problem in that the little one is really fast, the big one hates being in front but also needs a rider on board to give him a boot from time to time.....not really ideal also the gates are hideous along the bridleway by me I cant do 2 horses and narrow spring gates.

Could you advertise in local tack shops / feed merchants etc? When people are asking advice on where to look for a share/ride that seems to be a common response

To be honest I wouldn't judge on the grammar in an Email.

I could have sent this Email and I consider myself as an decent person who you could trust caring for your horses and exercise them. English is not my first language and my grammar is often all over the place.

My mentor earns about £30,000 every month but is very dyslexic. I have to read his Emails often twice to get any sense out of it but he is a very successful, organized and amazing person.

Give her a call and invite her to see how she is.

Good point about the possibility of dyslexia/English not first language. Probably worth at least meeting them.

Yes that's very true and of course even if not sometimes i read something back i've written and its awful!

I'm in the Cotswolds area- near Stow on the Wold.

I regards to ads in local tack shops yes i could but i just dont want people at my old livery yard (most super bi**** place on earth) to see tbh!

Am in a similar area to you!
How about advertising at some comp centers - like Hunters etc? You could also try the royal ag? Alot of the students have cars, and with the equine degree alot are horsey. It will leave you without anyone over christmas, but might get you someone keen and flexible?
Best of luck!
