Hello 2 questions if anyone can help ?

1) We have one of those standard dog guards for our ford focus which tbh is as much use as chocolate tea pot ! The exstendable legs seem to be easy for the dog to dislodge and then the whole things falls down on him. Any reccomendations ?? I am in the channel islands so need something by mail order ?

2) when my dog travels in the car with OH driving he is very vocal, it doesn't normally escalate to barking but just very loud whining and is becoming rather annoying. We have tried ignoring, stopping the car and using a water spray but he seems oblivious. It's more an i'm excited whine which I have explained to oh is because the only time he takes him in the car is when he tales him for a walk but training oh is a lot harder than training dog ??

Well if you have got this far well done and any help most appreciated x

I'd see if you could get a crate in the car, either plastic or a wire one with a blanket over the top, or a custom made dog box, to see if visual stimulus is the problem.

Would he be too hyper for a car harness?

I've got the halfords one too.

It's good because it adjusts to fit in any car and takes 2 secs to take off and put in another car.

Most car manufacturers will make dog grates to fit their models and you will find that they work very well because they have to meet more stringent safety standards. Downside is they can be quite expenssive, but Google is your friend for finding one second hand.

Alternatively can you fit a crate in your car? Or is your dog small enough to sit on the seat with a doggie harness and seat belt attachment?

As for the behaviour sounds like excitment/stress, might be worth trying a DAP colar and also trying to take him out little and often to all sorts of different destinations, including a big circle and back home so he doesn't anticipate that much.

As suggested if u had a crate or fitted device, u could put him in the car on the drive and go knowhere:D then take him for walks on foot and when he is knackered and home put him in the car then and b4 any long jouneys tire him out. Mix it all up a bit and confuse the dog.
