We have a 3 year old cavalier king charles spaniel, her weight has always been a challenge but recently she seems to be getting heavier and heavier. She currently weights 11.1kg.
She is under the vets and is weighed every 3 weeks, they have offered various advice and recommended different foods (none of which have worked some infact have made her put even more weight on - before she was under the vets she was about 10kg).
Obviously her weight is a big worry, she is fed no scraps/human food etc, although is always trying to steal food!!! Her treats come out of her daily allowance.
Unfortunately it is complicated by the fact that she has a sensitive stomach, is prone to stomach ulcers and is allergic to certain kinds of meat.. especially chicken. So the kinds of food she can eat is very very limited.
She is fed 100 grams of Royal Canin Hypo Sensitive Food. And occasionally if her stomach is abit upset she has fish and rice to help settle it. Her food is split over 3 meals a day.
She is walked for approximately one and a half hours a day on average, she is fitter than my friend's lab and cocker spaniel!! And often does all morning or afternoon walks. So is definately getting plenty of exercise for cav.
We don't feel we can feed any less food, we have had all the vet checks done and not sure what else to try next? Different kind of food/management?
Thanks.
Any advice greatly recieved.
