help with vets needed

I have a young puppy that has injured her leg and need surgery so i am looking for a good orthapedic surgeon to take her too. Does anyone have any experiences or reccommendations they can give? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i want to give her best chance of a full recovery.

My regular vets brought one in when my elderly JRT had a very complex fracture at a cost of £800 *gulp*. Ask your normal vet if they have access to that sort of service? The sooner it gets attention the better, I wouldn't be wasting time asking on a forum if it was mine TBH.

Echo JillA, I'd go with my vet's recommendation, they are best placed to know where to find a specialist.

She has been in the vets all day! and is in for more examination tomorrow but i want to know about every possible referal option before we have the final diagnosis tomorrow morning. I am never sure why if you have nothing helpful to say you need to say anything at all. We have done everything we can up to this point and it was on wrong diagnosis in the first place that i am in this situation so please keep your unhelpful words to yourself.

Location perhaps might help? I'd be surprised if your vets can't make an alternative referral if you have reasons to not be confident with their usual.

As Ester said location would help as for the other comments its actually very common for people to come on here and ask before even seeing a vet.

Im registered with Langford, nr Bristol and they are a teaching hospital. I have full confidence in them as they have quite a few specialists on site, my male Dobe had a cruciate op there and I couldnt have got better treatment, they also have a hydro dept so all bases were covered

I hope your dog is sorted asap and has a good outcome.

Hopefully your vet will have a good surgeon there who can deal with the break, or will refer you.

However if you're in Surrey I'd be asking for a referral to Noel Fitzpatrick.

At Newmarket there is Dick White referrrals, I have heard nothing but good about them.

Dick Whites are excellent. Noel Fitzpatrick, the TV supervet is Sussex/Surrey I think.

Noel Fitzpatrick for sure - my friend had a misdiagnosis on her GSD and wasn't happy so insisted on a referral to Noel. I can get more information on how she did this if you need it.

Leahurst at Liverpool or Torrington Orthopedics at Brighouse Yorkshire have both helped dogs of mine.x
